What is the Environment-Cancer Chair?

Created in 2007, the Guzzo Environment-Cancer Research Chair of the Université de Montréal is the first project undertaken by the Environment-Cancer Fund with the objective of gathering maximum scientific evidence to help explain the causes of cancer. The research potential is wide-ranging since it includes many types of cancer and untold numbers of agents to which human beings are exposed during their lifetime.

The Guzzo Environment-Cancer Research Chair combines:

  • The expertise and knowledge of a team of researchers headed by Dr. Jack Siemiatycki, a world-renowned researcher;
  • The experience and know-how of two organizations dedicated to excellence and innovation: the Université de Montréal and The Cancer Research Society;
  • The Guzzo family's generosity and commitment to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
